Chase from Myrtle Beach to North Myrtle Beach ends with 1 in custody, police say
One person is in custody after a lengthy car chase that took officers through Myrtle Beach to Cherry Grove in North Myrtle Beach on Tuesday morning.
The high-speed chase began at about 8:30 a.m. in Myrtle Beach, near 48th Avenue North, and ended on North Ocean Boulevard in Cherry Grove, near Island Point Villas, according to a Facebook post by the Horry County Police Department. As the chase whizzed through the city, many onlookers shared videos of the action online.
The pursuit was a joint effort to catch a wanted individual that crossed jurisdiction many times before coming to a stop, according to the post. Officers from the Horry County Sherriff’s Office, Myrtle Beach Police Department and North Myrtle Beach Police Department were involved in the effort.
The suspect was taken into custody after a felony traffic stop was conducted, the HCPD wrote. However, the name of the person has not been released.
Reports as of Tuesday morning indicated that no community members were hurt and no property was damaged in the incident, according to the HCPD.
No further information has been made available. The Sun News has requested the incident report and arrest warrant related to the chase.
