A man who causing a boat crash this summer in Horry County that injured two people has been arrested, accused of being intoxicated at the time.

South Carolina Department of Natural Resources charged Benjamin Carlisle Robinson, 54, with two counts of boating under the influence of alcohol resulting in bodily damage or death. He was booked into J. Reuben Long Detention Center on Sept. 11, 2025, and released Friday, Sept. 12, 2025, on a $20,000 bond.

Robinson was allegedly under the influence when his vessel ran aground along the Pee Dee River in the area of Bull Creek near the Yauhannah Bridge, according to an email from SCDNR Capt. Charlotte Mayhugh. Two passengers aboard the boat were injured.

Horry County Fire Rescue responded to the crash at 7:18 p.m. July 13, 2025, and all three people were transported to the hospital, according to a Facebook post.
