Conway woman sexually assaulted two children, one for 5 years, warrants say

A Conway woman pleaded guilty on Tuesday to sexually assaulting two victims, one for more than five years, according to a release from the Horry County Solicitor’s office sent on Wednesday afternoon.

Lisha Ann Smith, 36, pleaded guilty to to two counts of second-degree criminal sexual conduct and was sentenced to 20 years in prison, the maximum sentence for the crime, according to the Solicitor’s office.

Conway police responded to a Pearl Street residence on May 10, 2021, at about 4:30 a.m. due to reports of an assault, according to an incident report. Officers spoke to the victim’s mother, who said that her daughter had been assaulted for the past five years, the report says.

Between April 20, 2019, and May 10, 2021, Smith neglected and physically and mentally abused three minor victims, according to arrest warrants. Victims went without food, electricity and running water for “a few days” arrest warrants state. Victims were also exposed to domestic violence and drug use, according to the warrants.

It is unclear what the relationship was between Smith and the children.

Smith also hit a minor victim with belts, twigs, cords and her hand, and gave them alcohol. according to arrest warrants. Another warrant states that a minor victim was hit with a belt with metal parts on it.

She was originally charged with five counts of unlawful conduct toward a child.

Within those same dates, Smith engaged in sexual battery with children less than 11 years old, according warrants. She was charged with two counts of criminal sexual conduct with a minor under 11 years of age, first degree., two counts of sexual exploitation of a minor, first degree and two counts of criminal sexual conduct, second degree.
