Conway parents arrested for hitting 2 month old, living in ‘deplorable’ conditions
Two Conway parents were arrested last week for allegedly striking and neglecting their child, who is less than 2 months old, according to police reports.
Samantha Jean Graham, 32, and Jason Lee Richardson, 37, both face charges of unlawful conduct toward a child for abuse and neglect that was discovered by officers who responded to abuse reports at the couple’s Franks Lane dwelling.
An eyewitness claimed that Richardson hit the child multiple times in the head, causing light bruising that needed to be treated at a local emergency room, an arrest warrant says. A look inside the dwelling revealed more troubling details, according to police reports.
It was discovered that the child was being kept in an unsanitary living space with “deplorable” conditions, police reports say. The child was unbathed and living in a space infested with bugs, according to an arrest warrant, and the child’s food supply was also infested with bugs.
In a post Miranda interview with Graham, it was revealed that the child was kept in a room used for illegal narcotics usage, an arrest warrant claims.
Graham remains incarcerated at J. Reuben Long Detention Center with a $10,000 bail amount for one count of unlawful conduct toward a child. Richardson also remains incarcerated with no bail for charges of criminal domestic violence of a high and aggravated nature, unlawful conduct toward a child and contempt of court. He also has a $10,000 bail amount set for cruelty to children such as torture and deprivation.
Arrest records show that Richardson had been arrested just three days before this most recent arrest for third-degree domestic violence, but was discharged.
