Woman drives away after hitting pedestrian in Myrtle Beach area, police say
A woman has been charged with hitting and injuring a pedestrian and then leaving the scene.
Ayana Dayzahneir Encarnacion, 29, was arrested on Tuesday by South Carolina Highway Patrol and charged with hit and run with death or personal injury.
Encarnacion was driving on U.S. 17 Bypass near Coventry Road in the Myrtle Beach area when she struck the pedestrian who was walking along the roadway, according to an email from Cpl. David Jones with the SCHP.
Jones said the crash occurred about 4 a.m. Aug. 17, 2025. After hitting the pedestrian, Encarnacion allegedly fled the scene and was later apprehended, Jones said.
It is unclear how serious the pedestrian’s injuries are.
Encarnacion was booked into the J. Reuben Long Detention Center and was released on a $7,500 bond.
