An early morning shooting Sunday in Horry County killed one person, according to police.

Christian Hemingway, 18, who lived a short distance from the shooting on Cedar Branch Road, died at the hospital from gun shot wounds, according to an email from Horry County Chief Deputy Coroner Tamara Willard.

The shooting occurred just before 2 a.m. on the 1300 block of Cedar Branch Road in Loris, the Horry County Police Department said in a Facebook post. When officers arrived at the scene, they found one person in critical condition.

The victim was given CPR and transported to the hospital, but the person ultimately died.

The investigation into the incident remains active, and police are requesting that anyone with information, photos or videos related to the incident call the tip line at 843-915-8477 or email the tip inbox at crimetips@horrycountysc.gov. Tips may remain anonymous.
