Woman allegedly ‘dancing’ before crash that killed passenger in Myrtle Beach
A 52-year-old woman was “dancing” in her vehicle before causing a crash that killed a man in Myrtle Beach, according to an arrest warrant.
Leigh Ann Rayno was arrested Monday by Myrtle Beach Police on charges of reckless homicide.
Officers responded to the crash that occurred at 1 p.m. on May 25, 2025, on northbound Kings Highway near the intersection of 9th Avenue South, the warrant said. Rayno had allegedly struck the vehicle from behind, causing the death of a passenger in the vehicle, the warrant said.
Rayno’s vehicle also damaged four other vehicles and caused multiple injuries.
Robert Brasington, 83, of Lancaster, South Carolina, died at Grand Strand Regional Medical Center of multiple blunt force injuries days after the collision, according to Horry County Coroner Chief Deputy Coroner Tamara Willard by email.
A witness told police that Rayno appeared to be “dancing” with her hands in the air and not paying attention as she cut in front of him and then struck the vehicle stopped in the lane of travel, the warrant said.
Physical evidence, along with video, showed that Rayno did not attempt to brake or stop before the crash, the warrant said.
In addition, officers found a unsealed, but closed, bottle of alcohol in the center console, according to an incident report.
She remains in J. Reuben Long Detention Center on a $50,000 bond.
