A Myrtle Beach man will spend the next four years in federal prison after meeting a young girl online and then taking her to a hotel room to have sex.

James Edward Moss, Jr., 40, was sentenced Monday for transporting an individual with intent to engage in criminal sexual activity, according to a press release from the U.S. Department of Justice, District of South Carolina.

Evidence in the investigation showed that in April 2022, Moss met a minor online, picked her up and then transported her to a hotel room where he engaged in sexual activity with the minor, the release said. Moss recorded several videos of himself engaging in sexual activity with the minor between April 20 to 23, 2022.

It is unclear from the release where the minor lived or where the offense took place.

Moss is required to register as a sex offender, and he will not be eligible for parole. Moss was also ordered to pay $3,000 in restitution to the victim, the release said.
