Large police presence seen at Myrtle Beach International Airport. What we know
Around 9 a.m. Friday morning, visitors at the Myrtle Beach International Airport began reporting heavy police presence.
According to an Horry County Police officer at the scene, “a bunch” of law enforcement personnel was at the airport to escort a local child flying to Disney World for a trip facilitated by the Make-A-Wish Foundation.
It’s unclear exactly how many officers were at the scene, but Myrtle Beach International Airport business development and properties manager Ashley Hickman told The Sun News 10 to 15 police vehicles from the Horry County traffic unit conducted the escort.
“We are honored to have played a small part in this joyful and meaningful journey,” Hickman said. “We extend our heartfelt thanks to HCPD and the Make-A-Wish Foundation for their continued dedication to creating hope and unforgettable experiences for children in our community.”
