2 women arrested in Horry human trafficking investigation. One also facing murder

Two women were charged Monday in a human trafficking scheme in Horry County, according to a news release from the South Carolina Law Enforcement Division.

One of the women is also facing a murder charge for killing an 11-year-old girl visiting the Myrtle Beach area from Texas.

Camisha Marie Mcgaskey, 31, and Margaret Louise Roberson, 56, face five counts each of trafficking in persons under 18 years of age, as well as criminal conspiracy. A joint investigation between the South Carolina Law Enforcement Division (SLED) and Horry County Police found that victims were forced to provide cleaning services at various locations, according to the news release.

Roberson and McGaskey were booked into J. Reuben Long Detention Center, where they remain without bail.

The investigation revealed that on or between Jan. 1 and June 11, 2025, five minors were “enticed, solicited, isolated, and or transported” by Roberson and Mcgaskey, police reports state. The victims were subjected to forced labor, including cleaning services, at various medical clinics in the Conway area.

Arrest warrants allege that the pair knew that the minors would be subjected to forced labor when they transported them. They also say that the behavior began at the minor victims’ residences.

Mcgaskey was originally booked into J. Reuben Long Detention Center last month, when she was charged in the killing 11-year-old A’Kyri Bell, who was visiting from Texas, in Carolina Forest.

An arrest warrant for Mcgaskey says that she was a caregiver to Bell, and inflicted multiple blunt force injuries to the girl’s head and body which resulted in the girl’s death.

The case will be prosecuted by the 15th Circuit Solicitor’s office.
