Murrells Inlet man dies in early morning shooting. Another person was injured

A Murrells Inlet man was shot and killed Tuesday morning.

Horry County Police officers responded to a shooting about 4 a.m. at 340 Waties Drive in Murrells Inlet. Two people were shot, according to police.

Waltez Latham, 42, was transported to Tidelands Waccamaw where he died of his injuries, according to an email from Horry County Chief Deputy Coroner Tamara Willard.

After speaking with a witness, police found Latham in the back yard of a home with a gunshot wound, according to police reports.

Another person received undetermined injuries and was taken to another area hospital by private vehicle, a Facebook post from Horry County Police said.

HCPD have yet to name a suspect in the shooting.
