Update: Name of person killed in Fourth of July shooting in Horry County released
One person has died and another has received critical injuries in a shooting that took place on the Fourth of July.
Horry County Police is investigating two separate shooting incidents that happened Friday night, according to a Facebook post.
Jamarion Jackson, 17, died after being shot, according to an email from Horry County Chief Deputy Coroner Tamara Willard. Jackson died at 3:30 a.m. July 5, 2025, after being driven home from the shooting location which is suspected to be in Longs, Willard said.
It is unknown where the shootings happened, according to police. Additional details have not been released.
The victims were located and reported injured in unincorporated Horry County, the post said.
Social media accounts have said that the shooting took place in the Longs area.
