Stabbing at Myrtle Beach gas station leaves person with ‘life threatening’ wounds
A stabbing in a Myrtle Beach parking lot on Sunday evening sent a victim to the hospital with “life threatening” wounds and resulted in one arrest, according to police reports.
Around 5 p.m. on Sunday, Myrtle Beach Police responded to a report of an assault at a Speedway gas station located at 1845 Mr. Joe White Ave. Upon arrival, police saw the victim near the front of the store with a stab wound to the upper left chest, according to the incident report.
Emergency Medical Services arrived on scene and transported the victim to Grand Strand Regional Medical Center.
The offender, Jaziah Taylor, 25, was also found near the front of the store, close to where the victim was found.
An investigation of the scene determined that during an argument, the offender took a small black knife from his pocket and followed the victim out of the store into the parking lot, where he stabbed the victim.
According to Taylor’s arrest warrant, the verbal altercation in the store involved Taylor taking a drink away from the victim and then brandishing a retractable knife. Taylor then followed the victim around the side of the building, where he said they headbutted him, which is when he proceeded to stab them.
The stab wound caused internal injury to the victim’s lung, police reports say.
Taylor was arrested for assault and battery of a high and aggravated nature, as well as possession of a weapon during a violent crime. He was transported to the Myrtle Beach Police Department.
Taylor remains in custody without bond.
The incident is still under investigation.
