NC man accused of driving drunk, killing motorcyclist in North Myrtle Beach

TNS

A North Carolina man has been charged with driving under the influence in a North Myrtle Beach motorcycle accident that killed his passenger.

Dustin Timothy Lowery, 31, of Laurinburg, was arrested by North Myrtle Beach Police and booked into J. Reuben Long Detention Center on June 10, 2025.

Jessica Woodall, 40, also of Laurinburg, was a passenger on Lowery’s motorcycle when he hit the curb of a concrete median on Highway 17 North off ramp at Sea Mountain Highway in North Myrtle Beach.

Woodall died on the scene.

The accident occurred just before 2 a.m. on May 18, 2025.

Lowery was captured on security video driving a 2003 Harley-Davidson motorcycle in a reckless and excessively fast manner, causing him to lose control of the vehicle and crash, according to an arrest warrant. Lowery was determined to be under the influence of alcohol, the warrant said.

When police arrived on scene, Lowery was lying on the ground next to the curb with a head wound and bleeding. Woodall was lying in the grass near the mangled motorcycle, a police report said.

The report said that evidence showed Lowery was driving in excess of 100 mph on the ramp before the crash. It appeared that Lowery tried to stop before striking the raised island, which caused the motorcycle to flip over three lanes, the report said.

Lowery was released from jail on a $50,000 bond.
