SC bouncer’s assault by customer recorded for social media. He’s now suing owner and bar
A former bouncer is suing a Myrtle Beach bar for acting negligently while he was being assaulted by a customer.
Rodney Jean-Baptiste filed a lawsuit against The Flock Bar and Grill at 407 Yaupon Drive, and its owner, Christian M. Samuels, alleging he was assaulted by an unnamed customer at the bar.
Samuels and The Flock Bar were unavailable for comment prior to publication.
Jean-Baptiste worked as a bouncer and witnessed the customer often drink too much and become “rowdy, disobedient, uncontrollable and dangerous,” the lawsuit alleges.
Jean-Baptiste, other staff and the owner, Samuels, were aware of the customer’s behavior, but allowed him to continue to patronize the bar, the lawsuit continues.
On Jan. 3, 2025, Jean-Baptiste attempted to escort the customer out of the bar, but fell and was repeatedly kicked and punched by the customer while others recorded the alleged assault to post on social media, the lawsuit added.
No employees intervened, including another security guard working at The Flock.
Jean-Baptiste is seeking compensation for medical bills and punitive damages against The Flock Bar and Grill, owner Samuels and the unnamed customer.
