Myrtle Beach Police Department arrests 2 people connected to April mass shooting
Myrtle Beach Police arrested two people connected to the April 26 shooting that killed one and injured 11.
The two people were arrested on firearm charges on Tuesday after Myrtle Beach Police executed search warrants in North and South Carolina, according to a social media post from the agency.
In the weeks since the shooting, Myrtle Beach Police have released little information, holding on to the names of the three officers involved in the shooting, security camera footage and additional details about the 11 victims.
The police department executed three search warrants, two in the Bennettsville area and one in the Laurinburg, North Carolina area, the post wrote. Another search warrant was also issued in High Point, North Carolina. Three people were brought into custody.
The two people arrested on May 20 do not have direct links to the shooting but are part of a “broader investigation into associated criminal activity,” Myrtle Beach Police wrote.
No names have been released, and at least one of the individuals arrested is under 18.
On April 26 at 11:50 p.m., 18-year-old Jerrius Davis allegedly discharged his gun on North Ocean Boulevard near 9th Avenue North, according Myrtle Beach Police and the South Carolina Law Enforcement Division. A Myrtle Beach Police Officer then shot and killed the Bennettsville teen.
The shooting injured 11, including 15-year-old Serenity Chavis who said a police office shot her and 13-year-old Zavain Hairston, The Sun News reported.
