Myrtle Beach woman arrested for leaving toddlers alone in Walmart parking lot

A 20-year-old woman is accused of leaving two toddlers alone in a running vehicle in a Conway Walmart parking lot.

Suly Avalos Esquivel, of Myrtle Beach, left a 2-year-old and 3-year-old inside the vehicle Saturday while she went inside the Walmart at 151 Middle Ridge Ave., according to an Horry County Police report.

It is unclear from the report if Esquivel is the children’s mother.

Police responded to the parking lot about 2 p.m. to find the vehicle parked in the fire lane near the store entrance and the children inside the vehicle alone. The vehicle was running and the doors were unlocked, the report said.

An officer waited with the vehicle until the woman returned. She was arrested and booked into J. Reuben Long Detention Center on two charges of unlawful conduct toward a child. Avalos Esquivel remained in jail Monday on a $10,000 bond.

Esquivel contacted someone to come take custody of the children, who were uninjured, the report said.

Police said Esquivel placed the children at risk of being abducted.
