Conway woman cracks case, finds stolen patio furniture at pawn shop

A woman who reported her wicker patio furniture stolen found it advertised at a Conway pawn shop after searching online and called police to help her get it back, authorities said.

Police said a 29-year-old woman called them about 5:30 p.m. Wednesday to Everything In Particular at 2300 Church St. in Conway and showed them a copy of a report she filed with Horry County police after her wicker patio furniture was stolen from her Carolina Road home.

The woman told authorities she was busy searching advertisements online for patio furniture and discovered her wicker patio furniture had been pawned at Everything In Particular, police said.

Officers said they went inside the store with the woman where she showed pictures of her child and cat seated on the furniture. The store owner agreed the woman was the rightful owner of the furniture and it was returned to her, according to the incident report.

Authorities said they explained to the store owner that she was the victim of receiving goods under false pretenses.

Police said the store owner could provide little about the man who pawned the furniture there on Monday, and said the store owner did not make a copy of his driver’s license during the transaction.

The store owner told police she paid $41 for the reportedly stolen furniture.
