A man was arrested Wednesday in connection with an early-morning shooting at Jimmagan’s sports bar on Kings Highway, according to Lt. Joey Crosby, spokesman with Myrtle Beach police.

Marquis Jamal Burgess, 27, of Myrtle Beach is charged with attempted murder and possession of a weapon during a violent crime, Crosby said.

Officers were called about 3:06 a.m. Wednesday to Jimmagan’s sports bar at 6003 N. Kings Hwy. where police said they were told by several patrons that a fight occurred inside the bar involving two men firing guns at one another.

Both men allegedly shot at each other then left the bar, according an arrest warrant.

A 30-year-old male gunshot victim, connected to the case, was found a short time later in a hotel parking lot and taken to Grand Strand Regional Medical Center for treatment.

Burgess was being held at the Myrtle Beach Jail Thursday morning and was awaiting a bond hearing later in the afternoon, authorities said.
