Update: Shooting victims, 1 dead, found in vehicle. Police arrest man. Coroner names victim

A Longs man has been arrested for allegedly shooting and killing a man after an argument Thursday.

Da’Shauan Kamarion Knox, 20, was charged by Horry County Police March 13, 2025, with murder and attempted murder.

Knox apparently shot the victim multiple times, according to an arrest warrant. Knox is also accused of shooting a second person who survived. Both victims were taken to the hospital.

Don Johnson, 53, of Fair Bluff, North Carolina, died at a local hospital of injuries sustained in the shooting, according to Horry County Deputy Coroner Michelle McSpadden by email.

Police responded to Freemont Road in Longs at 2:18 p.m. Thursday in regards to a shooting. An officer found the victim laying across the front two seats of a vehicle unconscious and not breathing, according to a police report.

He appeared to have a gunshot wound to the stomach, the report said. The second victim had a gunshot wound to the arm.

Knox was booked into J. Reuben Long Detention Center and remains there without bail.
