A former Horry County Police officer was arrested and accused of selling alcohol without a liquor license.

The South Carolina Law Enforcement Division (SLED) arrested Michael Deontric Stackhouse on Monday for failing to secure a beer/wine sale permit, selling beer without paying taxes, and unlawfully selling and storing liquor, according to a release from the agency. The 36-year-old was brought to J. Reuben Long Detention Center.

The SLED investigation was requested by Horry County Police, a release said.

Stackhouse allegedly operated a business without a liquor license in a metal building along Cedar Branch Road, an arrest warrant shows. Google Maps does not show any bars or restaurants along Cedar Branch Road.

It’s unclear when Stackhouse worked for Horry County Police, but he resigned from his position, Horry County spokesperson Mikayla Moskov said in a text to The Sun News.
