A woman suffered smoke inhalation Monday morning during a house fire off Little River Neck Road in North Myrtle Beach, authorities said.

The blaze was reported about 7:30 a.m. Monday along LD Drive, which is off Little River Neck Road, officials said.

Horry County Fire Rescue crews were also called to the scene to assist North Myrtle Beach crews.

The cause of the blaze was under investigation.

The private home was fully engulfed with flames when crews arrived and by 9 a.m. Monday firefighters had the blaze extinguished, said Pat Dowling, North Myrtle Beach spokesman.

The woman was taken to Seacoast Hospital and was suffering from what appeared to be smoke inhalation, Dowling said. Her condition was not immediately available.

“Although North Myrtle Beach Fire Department was the first on the scene and worked to knock down the fire, it was latter learned that the home is actually located one block over in Horry County’s jurisdiction, so they are now also on the scene and will take control from now on,” Dowling said at 9 a.m. “North Myrtle Beach Fire is still on the scene assisting the County in their investigation of the fire.”

Motorists in that area should expect delays or find an alternative route.

More information will be posted as it is released.
