Horry County Police arrested a teenager after she allegedly shot and killed her boyfriend on New Year’s Eve.

Kimberly Maggert, 18, was arrested on Jan. 1, 2025 for murder and possession of a weapon during a violent crime. She is being held at J. Reuben Long Detention Center without bail.

Keenan Blumenschein, 28, died on Dec. 31 after a shooting at his home off Hayloft Circle near Conway, said Horry County Coroner Michelle McSpadden in a release.

Police were called to Maggert and Blumenschein’s house around 6 p.m. on Tuesday for a possible suicide, according to the police report. The pair had been dating since July 2024 and moved in together in November. Maggert appears to be from Clayton, Georgia.

It’s unclear what lead up to the shooting that killed Blumenschein.
