A Myrtle Beach fisherman was held at gunpoint while he was checking his crab pot traps in Murrells Inlet.

Georgetown County Sheriff’s Department responded to a reported armed robbery at the Crazy Sister Marina, 4123 U.S. 17 Business, about 8:20 a.m. on Dec. 14, 2024, according to a police report.

The fisherman told police that he was checking his crab pot traps near Huntington Beach State Park when he saw two men in a camouflage boat inspecting some of his traps.

The man drove his boat over to the men and told them that the crab pots they were checking were his, the report said. One of the men said, “I’m from here, everything in this inlet is mine,” and then said “Watchu gonna do about it?” before the second man pointed a shotgun at him.

The first man proceeded to finish checking the crab pot before leaving.

One man was described in the report as being white, about 6 feet tall, thin, with glasses and long gray hair tied back in a ponytail. He was wearing camouflage.

The second man is described as white, about 5 feet 10 inches, thin, with short hair and also wearing camouflage.

The camouflage boat is 19 to 20 feet in length, with a center console and a 115 Yamaha motor, the report said.

The fisherman was unable to get a photograph of the men.

The South Carolina Department of Natural Resources were also contacted. However, the SCDNR said that the sheriff’s department is investigating the robbery.

It is unclear from the report if crabs were taken from the fisherman.

A Facebook post in a Murrells Inlet group has offered a $500 reward for identification of the men.
