SC man steals woman’s vehicle, credit card then crashes into two other cars at McDonald’s

An 18-year-old Loris man has been arrested after stealing a vehicle and then crashing it into two vehicles at a McDonald’s, police reports said.

Jai’Mar Carlous White was charged Oct. 25 with grand larceny and hit and run of a driver involved in an accident with great bodily injury.

Horry County Police responded at 2:46 p.m. Oct. 25 to a report of a carjacking at a gas station on Highway 701, a report said. When the officer arrived, it was reported that the vehicle had been stolen after the driver left her vehicle unlocked and running while she went into the store.

A store employee showed police footage of the suspect walking to the car and then getting into the driver seat before leaving toward Loris, the report said.

As the officer was speaking to the victim, Loris Police Department reported that a driver in a vehicle that matched the stolen one had crashed into two vehicles at a high-rate of speed at a McDonald’s.

Loris Police had White detained inside the restaurant and Horry County Police were able to find the victim’s cell phone and credit card in his possession, the report said. White was identified from the gas station footage.

White was taken to the hospital for evaluation. The drivers of the other vehicles were also injured, according to an arrest warrant.

White remained in J. Reuben Long Detention Center Monday on a $30,000 bond.
