NC man says son died of drugs. He then shoots SC person that gave them to him, report says

A North Carolina man was arrested earlier this month after he allegedly shot a man who he claimed had sold his son drugs that killed him, according to Horry County Police.

David Grice, 60, was arrested for attempted murder, burglary, possession of a weapon during a crime, driving under the influence and possession with intent to distribute narcotics on Oct. 11. He is being held at J. Reuben Long Detention Center without bail.

Grice entered the victim’s home near Loris and accused the man of selling drugs to Grice’s son that killed him earlier that day, according to the arrest warrants. He then shot the victim in the arm and chest and left. When police arrived, they found Grice on the road with his car in the ditch.

When police searched Grice, they found a .6 grams of a white powder substance wrapped in wax paper. The powder was tested and found to be fentanyl.

Grice told a South Carolina Highway Patrol officer that he was driving to his sister’s house in Red Bluff and got lost. He then pulled into the driveway to turn around but accidentally backed into a ditch, according to SCHP report.

The officer smelled alcohol on Grice’s breath, had him perform sobriety tests and which he failed at least one. He was then arrested for driving under the influence.
