Woman reports more than $200 taken from Ocean Boulevard hotel room
A woman told Myrtle Beach police more than $200 was taken from hotel room when she left to go rent scooters.
Police were called about 3 p.m. Tuesday to a hotel at 5200 N. Ocean Blvd. where a 33-year-old woman told police that $220 was taken from her wallet, which was in her hotel bedroom, authorities said.
The victim said she left the room about 11:30 a.m. to go rent scooters and took a $100 with her, and left $360 in her wallet, according to a police report.
The victim said when she came back, she noticed $220 was missing from her wallet.
Police said they spoke with hotel management, who verified through records, that the victim’s room was cleaned while she was away.
Authorities said the victim’s mother was inside the hotel suite on the opposite end from where the cleaning crew was working.
Police said hotel management would be following up with them to give them the names of everyone who was assigned to clean the room.
Arrests had not yet been made in connection with the alleged theft as of Wednesday morning.
