Update: second person arrested after two hit in head with hammer fight near SC boat ramp
A four-person fight led to two people being hit in the head with a hammer near a boat ramp in Horry County, a police report said.
Dale Johnson is accused of smacking people with a hammer, according to arrest warrants. He was arrested on July 30 for two counts of assault and battery in a high and aggravated nature. Trevor Chadwell, the second suspect, was arrested for third-degree assault and battery on July 27.
Chadwell, 34, of Conway, got into an argument with one of the victims at Punch Bowl Landing, 7099 Punch Bowl Road in Conway, around 3 a.m. on Saturday, according to police. The second victim went to break up the fight when Johnson, 32, of Aynor, got out of the car and went up to the second victim.
Johnson hit her in the head with a hammer twice, once with the flat side and once with the claw side. She started bleeding profusely. Johnson then went to the first victim and hit him in the back of the head with a hammer. Chadwell began to punch the first victim, which caused his ears to ring.
The two victims got in a car and went to the hospital, with one of them scared they wouldn’t make it. She said she was feeling light-headed and weak, according to the report. They both needed three stitches.
Chadwell and Johnson were brought to the J. Reuben Long Detention Center. Chadwell left Monday on a $500 bond and Johnson is being held with a $30,000 bond.
