Video shows people shooting fireworks at each other, Myrtle Beach police and fire crews
Myrtle Beach Police are investigating several fireworks incidents, including people intentionally shooting fireworks at each other, neighbors, homes and vehicles.
Police posted on its Facebook page a video that shows teenagers and young adults shooting fireworks at each other. As a result, a brush fire ignited near a home, “putting the people inside in danger,” according to the post.
When members of the Myrtle Beach police and fire departments responded, fireworks were shot at them, the post said.
In two separate incidents, a teenage boy was injured when fireworks and a gun were shot at a family gathering he was attending, and a young person’s hand was badly injured by fireworks.
The police department will be providing a heavier than normal presence throughout the rest of the weekend, the post said. Curfew, minors must be home between midnight and 6 a.m., and fireworks laws will be strictly enforced.
“All of this is unacceptable, disturbing, and dangerous,” the post said. “These are criminal acts that hurt people and damage property. The incidents are under investigation by the Myrtle Beach Police Department. Those responsible, as well as the parents or guardians who allow it, will be identified and held accountable for their actions.”
Police are seeking information on the incidents. Anyone providing information that leads to an arrest can receive a reward of up to $1,000. Tips can be submitted by calling 1-888-CRIME-SC, through the mobile app at p3tips.com, or by calling 843-918-1382.
