SC food delivery drivers robbed of food, money. Man threatens to cut their throats, police

Two food delivery drivers were robbed in separate incidents, according to Myrtle Beach police.

A North Carolina man and woman suspected in the robberies were arrested.

Police responded to reports of armed robberies about 1:35 p.m. Monday, June 24, 2024, and again at 9:33 p.m. Wednesday, June 26, 2024, in the area of Spivey Park, according to a Myrtle Beach police Facebook post.

No injuries were reported.

Investigators said that in both incidents, food delivery drivers were robbed while making deliveries to an address in the area. Police were able to use technology in its Real-Time Crime Center to identify the two people who allegedly robbed the delivery drivers.

Cameron Reid Baker, 22, of Winston-Salem, was charged with two counts of armed robbery, two counts of possession of a weapon during a violent crime, first-degree assault and battery, fugitive from justice, possession of a stolen vehicle, shoplifting less than $2,000 and resisting arrest/false name.

Jazmyn Elaine Corvin, 25, of Winston-Salem, was charged with armed robbery and shoplifting less than $2,000.

Police responded to 701 Collins St. on June 24 where a Domino’s delivery driver said that he was flagged down by Corvin and Baker who then put a knife in his back and demanded all the money he had, which was $55, according to an arrest warrant. The couple then grabbed the hot bag and told the delivery person to drive away.

On June 26, Baker flagged down a Door Dash driver, who was making a delivery for Papa Johns, in the area of Collins Street, according to the warrant. The driver got out of the vehicle believing that Baker was the person whom the food should be delivered to. Baker then presented a knife and told the driver to give him all his money, which was $60.

Another person with the delivery driver got out of the vehicle, telling police that “she felt that something didn’t feel right,” the warrant said. Baker then told both victims that “the only reason he did not cut their throats was the fact they had children in the back” of the vehicle, the warrant said.

Baker then took the food which was valued at more than $95 and left.

Baker and Corvin were booked into the J. Reuben Long Detention Center on June 28, 2024.
