Update: Police investigating death after a body was found in Myrtle Beach, SC area
A death investigation is ongoing after a body was found in the Myrtle Beach area, according to Horry County Chief Deputy Coroner Tamara Willard.
The body was found near the former Indian Wells Golf Course in Garden City, the police report said. The location is where a known homeless encampment exits. There is no risk to the community, police said.
Although the police report said a skull was discovered, Willard said it was an entire body. The body was “partially skeletonized” meaning decomposition had begun.
An identification of the person has not been released.

Horry County Police announced online that human remains were potentially found in the Myrtle Beach area on Tuesday, according to an Horry County Police Facebook post.
