Horry County police respond to Loris shooting, at least one person hurt
One person was hurt during a Saturday night shooting near Bennett Loop and Airport Road in Loris, according to Horry County police.
Officers responded to a shooting around 10 p.m. Saturday in the Loris neighborhood where police found multiple shell casings in different yards, according to Lt. Raul Denis.
Police did not immediately find a victim but were alerted of an 18-year-old gunshot victim at McLeod Loris Emergency Room, Denis said. The male victim was being treated for a superficial wound police believed was related to the shooting, the report said.
Later, police were called to Morgan Road – near the N.C. state line – where they met with a 27-year-old woman who said she was picking up her children in Loris when gunfire erupted, Denis said.
The female victim said she and another person drove to a home in the Loris neighborhood and when they arrived she saw a large crowd in the street. She told police she went inside a home to get her children, heard gunfire and hid until the gunfire subsided, Denis said.
When the victim returned home she noticed blood on the passenger seat and on the outside of the car, the police report said. Police also noticed a strong smell of gasoline from a gunshot hole in the gas tank, Denis said.
Nobody inside the vehicle was hurt, Denis said.
