HCFR investigating 3 suspicious fires in the same area
Horry County Fire Rescue crews are calling three fires that happened Wednesday and Thursday around Highway 19 suspicious and are investigating a possible connection.
HCFR firefighters were called out to battle a structure fire about 4:30 a.m. Thursday at a vacant home near Green Sea on Highway 917, near the intersection of Highway 19, in what became the third fire crews extinguished in the area in about 24 hours, authorities said.
Brian VanAernem, spokesman with HCFR, said that no injuries have been reported with any of the fires.
VanAernem also said crews were on the scene of a structure fire at an abandoned building about 11 p.m. Wednesday on Highway 19 just up from Highway 430, and that the fire was the second abandoned building blaze in that area in the same day.
Crews are still investigating the incidents.
