Loris man threatens to blow up former workplace, kill employee, police say
A Loris man has been arrested for making a bomb threat at his former job and then threatening to kill an employee at the business.
Daniel Aaron Ledford, 29, was arrested by Loris Police Thursday and charged with threatening to kill, injure or intimidate with a bomb and unlawful communication by telephone.
Ledford texted the manager of a warehouse that there was a bomb in a package at the business, according to a police report. The text, sent on July 7, said the bomb would at a specific time.
The incident happened at 4615 Broad St. in Loris, which is listed as an address for several companies.
The manager contacted police and said that he believed the message came from a former employee, who was fired a few months before.
The bomb squad and canine units from Horry County Police, SLED, North Myrtle Beach and Myrtle Beach police departments responded. No bomb was located, according to the report.
Then, from Sept. 30 to Oct. 3, Ledford is accused of sending text messages to an employee at the warehouse. The messages said that Ledford would kill the victim and had emojis of an explosion and bombs, the police report said. Ledford is also accused of sending photos of firearms to the victim.
Police linked Ledford to the messages through subscriber information, the report said.
Ledford was booked into the J. Reuben Long Detention Center and released after posting a $25,000 bond.
