Woman tells police boyfriend ran her off the road on Kings Highway, damaged car
Police are investigating after a woman told them her boyfriend ran her off the road while she was driving down Kings Highway, tried to break into her car, then slashed open one of her tires, authorities said.
The 26-year-old female victim told police her boyfriend drove up to the driver’s side of her car and bumped into her, causing her to swerve off to the side of the road, according to the police report.
Myrtle Beach officers were called about 3 p.m. to the roadway near the 3300 block of South Ocean Boulevard where the victim told them the suspect got out his car after she ran off the road and beat on her car window, police said.
The victim said once the suspect realized he couldn’t break into the car, he cut open the passenger-side front tire with a pocket knife then left the area, authorities said.
Police said they noticed discoloration on the victim’s lower lip while speaking with her, and she told authorities the suspect hit her earlier, and that she was trying to cover it up with lipstick.
While the victim was speaking with police, she began getting threatening text messages from the suspect, saying he was going to come to her job and home, and that he was upset she called police, according to the report.
Authorities called the suspect who told police he didn’t make any contact with the victim’s car on Kings Highway, and that she side-swiped his vehicle while leaving after they argued at his house, police said.
Police said they called Horry County authorities to take pictures of the suspect’s car at his home, which is outside Myrtle Beach city limits.
Authorities also said they would be seeking arrest warrants in connection with second-degree assault.
An arrest had not yet been made as of Wednesday morning.
