A Longs man has died after an overnight shooting Wednesday outside a Myrtle Beach area bar, police said.

Starquan Washington, 23, died at the Grand Strand Hospital Wednesday from injuries he sustained in the shooting, according to a release from the Horry County Coroner’s Office.

A Myrtle Beach man, Kvon Tyrese Lawhorn, 24, now faces a murder charge in Washington’s death, an arrest warrant said.

Horry County Police responded to a shooting about 2:10 a.m. at 4803 Highway 17 Bypass, which is listed as the address for Barfield’s Bar & Grille, according to a police incident report.

Two people were injured and transported to area hospitals. Washington later died and the other person was treated for non-life threatening injuries.

Lawhorn also is charged with attempted murder and remains incarcerated in J. Reuben Long Detention Center.

It appears there were four people involved in the shooting, according to the report.

Police are still investigating.

The shooting happened in an area that has had several incidents of violence over the years, the most recent in January.

Police responded to a shooting that happened outside Barfield’s Bar and Klockers Tavern, which is located next door. Apparently a large fight happened between the two buildings, according to police.

In 2018, 15th Circuit Solicitor Jimmy Richardson asked a judge for a court order to close Klocker’s, along with two other bars, citing multiple reports of fighting, assaults and public intoxication in the parking lot, shared with Barfield’s.
