Two Horry County men were arrested for trafficking drugs inside the Myrtle Beach International Airport Monday, Horry County Police said.

The drugs were found after a police K-9 sniffed the luggage and got a positive alert during a baggage interdiction operation at the airport, an incident report said. The incident happened about 11 a.m.

Myan Malik McCray, 20, of Conway, and Canaan Izaiah Piercy, 20, of Longs, were both charged with trafficking marijuana. McCray also was charged with assault on a law enforcement officer and throwing bodily fluids on an officer.

According to a police report, the officers conducted surveillance around the baggage carousel in which two men picked up one of two suitcases. A detective made contact with McCray, who also had a second bag, and told him that the K-9 had alerted to drugs in the bag. McCray told the detective to get a search warrant and handed the detective both suitcases, the report said.

While being detained, McCray attempted to flee officers and in the process struck an Horry County Police detective in the face. The detective was treated by Horry County Fire Rescue.

McCray was eventually able to be arrested and placed in handcuffs. However, while being placed in a patrol vehicle, McCray spit bodily fluids at an officer.

Piercy admitted to trafficking amounts of marijuana inside his suitcase, the report said. When officers searched the bag, they found more than 33 pounds of marijuana in vacuum-sealed bags.

After receiving a warrant, police searched McCray’s suitcases and found more than 52 pounds of marijuana. McCray also had $2,470.
