Shoppers chase down a suspected shoplifter in Myrtle Beach

Shoppers in a Myrtle Beach beachwear store witness a man allegedly shoplifting and chase him down the street.

Myrtle Beach police arrested Shawn Maynard, 41, for shoplifting following the incident Saturday night.

About 7:30 p.m., an employee at Pacific Beachwear at 1600 S. Kings Highway witnessed Maynard place two pairs of swim shorts inside his pants, according to the police report.

As Maynard was walking out of the store, the employee tried to stop him, but according to the report, he threw the shorts down along with a towel he had around his neck and ran out of the building.

Three men who were in the store chased after Maynard. Maynard ran through the woods and into the bathroom at Radical Ropes at 19th Avenue South and Kings Highway.
