One person is dead following a crash Saturday in Longs

The South Carolina Highway Patrol is investigating a deadly crash in Longs.

Edgar David Perez Guerra, 30, died in the crash. Guerra is originally from Honduras but was living in Little River.

The accident happened about 6:30 p.m. Saturday on Pine Needle Drive near Fremont Road.

According to SCHP, Guerra and a passenger were heading north on Pine Needle Drive when he drove the van off the road and hit a tree.

Police say that Guerra was not wearing a seat belt.

The passenger is in the hospital.

The crash is under investigation.
