2 arrested for shooting at four police officers this weekend. One officer was injured

Two people have been charged in a weekend shooting that left one officer injured.

London Staggs, 17, and Chance Benson, 18, each face four counts of attempted murder, firing into an occupied vehicle, and use of a weapon during a violent crime.

Around 11 p.m. Saturday, officers received a report of a person with a gun near 14th Avenue North and Chester Street in Myrtle Beach. Two Myrtle Beach Police officers and two South Carolina State Law Enforcement Division agents responded in one vehicle, according to the Horry County Police Department, the investigating agency.

As officers approached, a group of suspects began shooting into the vehicle and fled shortly after.

One officer sustained a non-life threatening gunshot injury.

Bond hearings for Benson and Staggs have not been set yet.

The investigation is still active.
