North Myrtle Beach SC man arrested for sexual exploitation of a minor

A North Myrtle Beach man was arrested on charges of sexual exploitation of a minor, the South Carolina Attorney General’s Office announced Thursday.

Alex Gomez, 42, was arrested on the charge June 6, the attorney general said in a release. He could receive up to 10 years in prison for the charge.

Investigators received a CyberTipline report from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children, which led them to Gomez, according to the release. Investigators state Gomez distributed files of child sexual abuse material.

Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force investigators, along with the Horry County Sheriff’s Office, made the arrest. Investigators with the Attorney General’s Office assisted with the investigation.

The case will be prosecuted by the Attorney General’s Office.
