NC man faces charges of attempted murder in Ocean Boulevard shooting caught on Facebook
A North Carolina man seen firing a gun into a vehicle on Ocean Boulevard last month in a Facebook video that went viral has been arrested in Myrtle Beach.
Edward Arnell Williams Jr., 37, of Charlotte, was charged Tuesday by Myrtle Beach Police with attempted murder, possession of weapon during violent crime and discharging firearm into vehicle, a police report said.
He was extradited to Myrtle Beach from North Carolina to face the charges.
Williams was denied bond Wednesday morning for the attempted murder charge.
The incident happened in the 1100 block of North Ocean Boulevard, at the intersection of Mr. Joe White Avenue, on April 15. Officers responded to several 911 calls at that location, the report said.
At the time, it was believed Williams was the victim of a hit and run, according to the police report. Williams told officers that another vehicle had ran into him while he was trying to keep them from leaving the scene.
Williams was in possession of an automatic handgun, the report said.
It was because of the video that officers launched their investigation, police said previously.
The 54-second video starts off with a truck driver attempting to pull off from behind a black Nissan as a woman stands in front of the truck.
People can be heard yelling in the background as the truck continues to move forward toward the woman. It appears the truck even bumps into the woman, but it is not clear.
Am man then approaches the passenger side window of the vehicle, which is open, and appears to have a gun in his hand. His hand, with the item, is hanging on the inside of the truck and is no longer visible in the video.
After a few seconds of talking to the driver, a potential gunshot is heard.
The driver then speeds off towards South Ocean Boulevard, and the man gets in the Nissan on the passenger side.
