A 22-year-old will spend 30 years in prison for killing a North Myrtle Beach man
A judge sentenced a South Carolina man Tuesday to 30 years after he pleaded guilty to murdering a man in North Myrtle Beach, according to the Fifteenth Circuit Solicitor Jimmy Richardson’s office.
Kameron Horton, 22, of North Charleston, pleaded guilty to killing Darrell Johnson, 73, in January 2022, the news release states. Johnson was found dead in his home along Hillside Drive in North Myrtle Beach.
Horton was seen Jan. 30 on a Ring doorbell camera walking up to Johnson’s front door and having a conversation with him, according to an arrest warrant from the North Myrtle Beach Police Department.
When North Myrtle Beach police arrived on scene, they found Johnson lying inside his home, on South Hillside Drive, in a pool of blood with a 6-inch stab wound to the back of his head, according to an incident report.
A search for information about Johnson found the he was a registered sex offender, convicted in 1990 of child molestation in Georgia, according to the National Sex Offender Registry.
Horton must serve the entire sentence, according to the release.
He was arrested February 2022 in Jasper County.
