Driver who ran into Horry sheriff’s transport vehicle was going the wrong way, SCHP says

A driver who crashed into a Horry County Sheriff’s Office transport van Tuesday has been charged with DUI, according to the South Carolina Highway Patrol.

That person’s name has not been released, WBTW-TV reported.

The driver was traveling north in the southbound lanes on Highway 501 before crashing head-on into the van, Lance Cpl. Lena Butler told WBTW.

A spokesperson with the sheriff’s office said the driver’s injuries were not believed to be life-threatening, according to the TV station.
