Man who allegedly robbed Little River area bank threatened teller in note, report says
A Longs man who allegedly robbed a bank near Little River walked out with over $1,000 after demanding it from a teller Monday, according to a police report.
Thomas Sheils, 38, has been charged with entering a bank with the intent to steal, according to online booking records.
No one was reportedly injured in the robbery, police said Monday.
The defendant allegedly went to United Community Bank Monday and gave a note to a teller demanding money, according to an arrest warrant. He left with about $1,280 and the note.
Police corroborated that claim with witness statements, surveillance pictures and videos, the warrant states.
He was booked into J. Reuben Long Detention Center Monday and is incarcerated Wednesday, booking records show.
Lanes were closed Monday in both directions of Highway 90 at Lees Landing as police searched for the suspect, according to a Facebook post by the Horry County Police Department.
