Man arrested in connection with rape by Brunswick County Sheriff's Office agents, also charged with kidnapping and burglary
Detectives with the Brunswick County Sheriff's Office have arrested a Riegelwood, N.C. man in connection with rape, burglary, and kidnapping, Emily Flax, spokesperson with the sheriff’s office, said.
Jeffrey Michael Nelson, Jr., 22, of General Howe Road in Riegelwood, N.C., is charged with second-degree rape, first-degree burglary, and kidnapping for an incident that occurred early Monday morning, Flax said.
According to arrest warrants, Nelson broke into the victim’s home on Lanson Lane in Leland, N.C., between 4:15 a.m. and 4:30 a.m. Monday with the intent to commit a felony.
No further details on the incident were released.
Nelson was arrested late Monday night in Wilmington, N.C. after detectives received information that he might be in there, Flax said.
Nelson is currently being held in the Brunswick County Detention Facility on a $500,000 bond.
