A teacher employed at Horry County Schools was arrested last week after police said she was the aggressor in a drunken fight with her roommate that led to a broken door.

Kimberly Bone, 59, was charged with kidnapping and assault Thursday.

She was booked into the J. Reuben Long Detention Center, according to online booking records. She was released the same day on a $4,000 bond.

Bone said that she had been trying to get her dogs out of her roommate’s locked room when she broke down the door because one of the dogs was sick and needed care, according to an incident report.

Once inside, a fight ensued between the women. Bone said her roommate hit her, drug her to the ground and pulled her hair. In response, Bone said, she pulled her hair and bit her.

The roommate claimed that she had locked herself and the animals in the room because of Bone’s actions when she is intoxicated, according to the report.

The roommate described Bone as the aggressor and said Bone began to use pieces of the broken door to hit her, according to the report. Bone also tried hitting her her with a “spear-like” piece from the door. Bone later had the roommate on the ground and was hitting her and pulling her hair, according to the report.

At some point, the roommate said she was able to get away from Bone, according to the report.

Bone is an alternate education teacher at the county’s SOAR Academy, which prepares students to integrate back into a normal school setting, according to district spokesman Lisa Bourcier.

Bone was placed on administrative leave with pay on Friday, Bourcier said Monday.

Bone has been employed with the district since October 2018.
