Suspect arrested after armed robbery reported at three Myrtle Beach businesses
Three Myrtle Beach businesses were reportedly targeted Sunday by an armed robber, and police have arrested a suspect.
Gino White, 22, of Myrtle Beach, is facing two counts of robbery while armed or allegedly armed with a deadly weapon and another county of attempted armed robbery, according to online court records.
The robberies were reported 11 a.m.-1 p.m. Sunday at two businesses on South Kings Highway and another on 3rd Avenue South, police reported on social media. No injuries were reported.
Officers were first called around 11 .am. to McDonald’s, at 2607 S. Kings Hwy., and were told that a man passed an employee a note indicating he had a weapon, took money and left, according to police. Employees recognized the suspect as a former employee despite him wearing a face covering, police added.
That investigation was still ongoing when officers received another armed robbery report from earlier that morning at Eagles Beachwear, at 2301 S. Kings Hwy. That attempt was reportedly unsuccessful.
Officers were finally called to Dollar General, at 1380 3rd Ave. S., for an armed robbery involving a similar note from the McDonald’s incident, police said. That’s where police say they discovered evidence linking White to the crime.
White was taken into custody around 6 p.m., police added.
Anyone with information about the robberies is asked to contact the department at 843-918-1382, and callers can remain anonymous.
