Police investigate after armed robbery reported at former Sonic in Myrtle Beach
Myrtle Beach police were called after two people said they were robbed at knife-point while sitting at a Kings Highway restaurant site that was closed down, authorities said.
Officers were called about 5:30 a.m. Friday to the site of a former Sonic restaurant at 200 N. Kings Highway where a 30-year-old woman and a 32-year-old man reported the incident.
While sitting at the former Sonic, the victims said they were approached by a man with a flashlight who claimed to be a police officer and wanted to see the male victim’s identification, authorities said.
The victims said a woman then came around from the side of the building and demanded the victims give her everything they had at knife-point, authorities said.
The female victim said she had $10 and an iPad in her hand, and that the woman took the money from her hand and ran away, police said.
The victims also said the female suspect threw the knife when she left the scene.
Police said they searched the area for the knife, but didn’t find it.
Authorities took the victims to the Myrtle Beach Police Department where detectives were to interview them; however, the victims left before the interview could happen after saying they needed to go to the methadone clinic and would be back later, police said.
