MBPD: Man awakens after passing out drunk to find truck stolen

Police said a man passed out after drinking and awoke to find his truck was stolen.

Myrtle Beach officers were stopped by a 19-year-old man about 11:30 a.m. Friday near a hotel on the 100 block of South Ocean Boulevard who told them his 1996 white, Ford Ranger had been taken, authorities said.

The victim told police he was riding around Thursday night with a man he only knew as “Danny,” and said that Danny was driving his truck because he was too intoxicated, according to the police report.

The victim said that sometime Thursday night he passed out from drinking and awoke at a beach access near Sixth Avenue South to find his truck was gone, authorities said.

The victim said that Danny was the last person to driving his truck and that no one had permission to take it. The victim said he could not say for sure if Danny took the truck because of his unconscious state, according to the report.

Police said nearby parking lots and beach accesses were searched, but the victim’s truck wasn’t found by Friday morning.

Authorities had made no arrests in connection with the incident as of Saturday morning.
